An electronic drum is a modern electronic musical instrument primarily designed as an alternative to an acoustic drum kit. Electronic drums consist of an electronic sound module that produces the synthesised or sampled percussion sounds on a set of ‘pads’, usually constructed in a shape to resemble drums and cymbals.

Like regular drums, the pads are struck by drumsticks, and they are played in a similar manner to an acoustic drum kit.

Electronic drums provide more versatility than an acoustic kit. The flexibility of an electronic kit is perfect for a beginner drummer who is still finding their sound.

Classes are presented weekly by a qualified drum teacher. Students are open to participating in the Tygerberg International Eisteddfod every year or to completing the Trinity Rock School examinations.

Lesson options: 30 minutes (once a week)
